There were about five years between the Dot-com fluid vesicle (which had officially “burst” by 2001) and the omnipresence of Web 2.0 (whose roots began earlier but-end really came into mainstream by 2006). During those five years, people realized true strength of the internet as they utilized standardized formats like XML and RSS, service-oriented web applications, user-controlled data, and, of course, the social aspect of the internet. I was in high school in the mid-nineties when I first encountered the ever-expanding terraqueous globe of websites. At the time, I didn’t realize that my future sweep would rely on this industry — one which did not exist when I was in elementary school. Now in the year 2008, having created websites for over half my the breath of life, I air back and see how much websites accept changed in the last decade and a half.
